Peacefully, after a short stay, at St. Joseph's Hospital on April 6, 2004, in his 87th year. Most caring husband of Ruby (Sparks) for 61 years. Loving father of Beth (Hank) Horyn and Charles Edward "Nipper". Cherished Grampa of Matthew (Gayle, Peter (Andrea and Sonja Horyn. "Grampa" of Megan and Katy Lever. Survived by his sisters Frances Miller of London, Nan Cotterman of Ancaster and brothers Jim (Della) of Comox, B.C. and Don (Anne) of Burlington. Predeceased by his brothers Ian, Douglas, Kenneth and Bert. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.

Ed was a naval veteran of WW II.

He retired as a District Chief from the Hamilton Fire Department and was a Mason at Composite Lodge #667 GRC A.F. & A.M.

Special thanks to Dr. Rick Tytus, Mary Jane and the nursing staff of M.A.U. Ward 4 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave East on Wednesday from 7 - 9 pm. and Thursday from 1 - 3 pm.

Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 3 pm. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Choices" Community Living, Harvest Road in Dundas, or the charity of your choice.
