Passed away with his family at his side, at the Hamilton General Hospital on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, in this 64th year. Finally at peace, he will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Brian is the much loved husband and best friend of Donna (Hayward/Chalkley), cherished dad to Mike (Kelly), Theresa (Sean Anderson) and Derek Chalkley. Treasured brother to John (Mary), brother-in-law to Doug Hayward (Shelley) and uncle to Rich, Laure and Lindsay. Grandpa will be lovingly remembered by Beth, Rachel and Cole. Beloved son to Hedy, predeceased by father Edward (Ted) and mother Irene. Will be sadly missed by mother-in-law Mary Hayward.

Brian retired from the Hamilton Fire Department in 1997 after 30 years of service. He is past President and Director of the Southern Ontario Fire Fighters Curling Association and was a long standing member of Glendale Golf and Country Club.

Special thanks for all the support, comfort and compassion provided to Brian and his family by nursing staff and doctors on ICU South and 7 West Neurosciences at the Hamilton General Hospital.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Brian's life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 163, 435 Limeridge Road East, Hamilton, ON, Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Juravinski Cancer Centre.
