		Following retirement in 1985, Tom was appointed by Transport Canada as Fire Chief of Hamilton  (John C. Munro) Airport.
		Tom was a machinist by trade. He built a large scale steam train locomotive in his basement which was subsequently donated to the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology.
		Tom was also an accomplished amateur radio (ham) operator, VE3IM for many years.
