Norman passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at St Peter’s Hospital.

Norman was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Gwynne (Clarkson) in February, 2022.

He will be greatly missed by his children Steven (Wendy), Sharon, Lynn (Craig), Denise (Len), and Dan (Bev). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Norman was born in Hamilton and started his early career with Hamilton Fire and Hamilton Police Services. In the early 70’s, he transitioned to the automotive sector where he travelled to Sweden, Japan, and Korea, and, over time, progressed to Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Canada. He retired in the late 80’s.

Norman enjoyed hosting family parties, especially with his children and grandchildren. He loved travelling in Canada and wintering in Florida with Gwynne.

After retirement, Norman thrived as a volunteer at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and made many friends while there.

He also took great pleasure in hosting “Tuesday Nights with Norm” and his music nights will be missed by his friends at the Villages of Wentworth Heights retirement home.

Special thanks to his table mates and the amazing staff at Wentworth Heights for their care and kindness over the last year.

Norman was determined to keep strong in the past few years, despite a variety of medical issues. The family especially appreciates the care, compassion, and kindness shown to him by the staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and hospital, as well as St. Peter’s Hospital.

Although his cancer didn’t beat him in the end, donations to the Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) Hamilton (www.cancerassistance.ca) would be greatly appreciated.

As per Norman’s wishes, a private family service will be held.
