Piercy, John Charles.  Passed away suddenly on July 27, 2018 at the age of 61.

John was a retired Hamilton Fire Fighter with 33 years of active service and had been retired for 4 years.

Predeceased by his parents Charles Edgar (Ted) and Marie (Del) Dolorosa (née Murphy).  John is survived by his cherished life-partner Antonietta (Toni) Sanders (née Cafazzo).  Also survived by his brother Rob Piercy and Rob’s long time partner Noelle Smith (Mississauga), brother Ed McArthur (Vancouver), stepmother Vivian Piercy and his beloved aunt, Mary Ewan (née Piercy).  John will also be missed by many loving relatives and friends.

John had a passion for photography and was the founder of the Hamilton Flickr Group.  He enjoyed many sports, including water-skiing, windsurfing and cycling. He loved to travel and enjoyed the outdoors.

We would like to thank Dr. Jehaan Illyaas and Claudia Leduc from St. Joseph’s Hospital Mood Disorder Program, and Dr. Jane Dobson and Ruthanne Karges-Downs for being there for John for many years. Also a special thank you to all those at the Paradise Group for their support.

Cremation has already taken place.  Gathering for family and friends on August 13, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm at St. Stephen-on the-Mount Anglican Church (625 Concession Street, Hamilton, Ontario) with a funeral service starting at 4 pm.  Celebration of Life to follow service at Ye Old Squires, 550 Fennell Avenue East Hamilton, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you would consider a donation to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (Hamilton Chapter), the Barrett Centre for Mental Health Crisis Support (Hamilton) or Food4Kids.

We would also like to express our profound gratitude to everyone who has contributed so selflessly and generously to John's GoFundMe campaign.  Words can never begin to describe how moved we have been by your kindness and compassion at this difficult time.
