The HFD Pensioners Association has been notified today that George Almas passed away at the NHS St. Catharines Hospital due complications of Pulmonary Fibrosos |

| OBITUARY | ||||
|
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George David Almas,
Platoon Chief Hamilton Fire Department (Retired) who passed away on
Friday August 18, 2023, in his 78th year at NHS St Catharines Site,
leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and strength. Loving son of
the late Margaret and David Almas. Beloved husband of Veronica 'Vicky'
Almas (nee Green) Devoted father of Stephen, Michael (Veronic) Jennifer
(Casey). Loving Papa of Isabella (Nick), Victoria, Joshua, Brock,
Christian, Zachary and great grandson Colton. George is predeceased by
his sisters Barbara, Joyce and Darleen. George was an avid athlete,
especially jogging, until Multiple Sclerosis did not allow him to do so.
George served and protected the citizens of Hamilton for 35 brave years.
A special thank you to the staff at St Catharines Hospital for the care and compassion George received during his final days in their care. Family will receive friends at BALLARD MINOR FUNERAL HOME, 315 Broad St. E., Dunnville, on Tuesday August 22, 2023, from 1pm - 3pm and 5pm - 7pm with funeral service to follow in the chapel at 7pm. In memory of George, donations can be made to the Salvation Army and would be greatly appreciated by his family. Friends are invited to send condolences and sign the Book of Memories at www.ballardminorfh.ca. |
