It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of David Allen Sharkey, age 77 on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He is dearly missed by his children, Nancy Ronalds (Robert) and David Sharkey Jr. (Kellyn) and William Reeve and Sherry Hachey (Reeve). He was the son of Stanley and Ethel Sharkey (Knapp-Roberts). He was predeceased by his parents, by his eldest daughter Sharon Taggart (Ronald) and by his cherished wife Gail (Matchett-Reeve). He is fondly remembered by his brothers Stanley (Leona), Earl (Carmela) and Don (Josiane).

David was a dedicated member of the Hamilton Fire Department.

He and Gail served faithfully at the People's Church in Hamilton and at the newly established Lighthouse Church in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.

He was Poppy to many grand- children and great-grandchildren. He is sorely missed by his family and friends, firefighter colleagues and church associates.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Patten Funeral Home in Glace Bay.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of David's Life on Saturday, July 8th at 11 a.m. at People's Church, 510 Mohawk Rd. W., Hamilton.

Following the celebration service, there will be a lunch reception at the church. Please consider a donation in David's name to the People's Church, Hamilton or to the Lighthouse Church, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.
