Finally reunited with his cherished wife, Audrey (née Dyment), who predeceased him nearly eleven years ago. Devoted and beloved father of Nancy (Brad Fleming), Lois (Wayne Saunders) and David. Loving grandfather of Blair (Erin), Kelly (Scott) and Bradley (Sharlene), and six great-grandchildren. Also survived by his sister Elizabeth Hilton. Will be remembered by many in his extended family.

Alan was a long-time firefighter for the Town of Ancaster, starting at age 18 as a volunteer and retiring in 1985 after 20 years as Fire Chief.

As a young man, he was a pilot with 424 City of Hamilton Squadron, RCAF Reserve, 1951-1959, and also worked at his parents' hardware store in the village of Ancaster.
